Abstract
The Tondano River Estuary is an area affected by the interaction of tides, currents, winds, and bathymetric conditions that affect sea level and hydrodynamic conditions of the coastal area. This study aims to analyze the maximum tidal height at the Tondano River Estuary using the MIKE 21 Flow Model (FM). The study was conducted using a quantitative approach, employing numerical hydrodynamic modeling that integrated bathymetry, coastline, tides, and wind data into a flexible mesh domain. Simulation results show that the maximum sea level height in the northern and northwestern open-sea areas of the model domain exceeds 1.392 m. The highest current velocity was identified in the open sea area, with a value exceeding 0.325 m/s, while the estuary area showed lower currents due to shallow water conditions. Overall, this model can represent hydrodynamic conditions in the Tondano River Estuary spatially and temporally.
