Abstract
One of the key challenges is the ability to communicate at high data rates while maintaining a low Bit Error Rate (BER) with improved diversity gain-the demands of the state-of-the-art 5G wireless communication systems. For a Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) based 5G system, this work proposes an Optimized Linear Scalable Dispersion Code (O-LSDC) scheme to enhance the transmission performance and reliability. The method proposed is based on signal processing and scalable Coding techniques, which reduce the BER and detection complexity and enhance diversity performance. Different configurations of MIMO channels from 1×1 to 8×8 are simulated for various Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) conditions. System performance is measured by BER, diversity gain and computational complexity. Results indicate a general improvement in system performance with an increasing SNR for all the MIMO configurations. The configuration with 4×4 MIMO configuration shows the best tradeoff between BER performance, diversity gain and complexity, and is chosen. Appropriate for 5G applications in practice. Higher-order configurations like 6×6 and 8×8 are able to get a little bit of a performance boost, but they need a lot more computational power. Therefore, the proposed O-LSDC scheme can be regarded as an efficient and scalable solution for the reliable and high-performance 5G wireless communication systems.
