Abstract:

This position paper examine the history of the political crises within Zamfara APC ahead of the 2019 general elections and how it influenced legal tussle from the lower to the Supreme Courts of Nigeria. It also makes a critical evaluation of the action and in-action of the former Governor Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar and how it was politically and legally contested for by Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa and few other political actors within the APC Zamfara State. It also conducted critical evaluation of the impacts of contradictory verdicts from courts of coordinate jurisdictions and how their logical conclusion of legal issues can be used as lessons for the Nigerian political actors. The paper adopted mixed methodology of literature review and filed interviews to ascertain the validity of facts for evaluation.
