Abstract:

Currently, the foster care system is used worldwide, yet many people are still unaware of what foster care is and how to care for foster children properly. Foster children often face abuse in their temporary homes, which can be brought down to a few main risk factors. Current policies to address have worked effectively in reducing the number of children in foster care; however, many flaws and limitations are yet to be addressed. This paper researches the current policies related to foster care. After highlighting the stakeholders’ perspective on these policies and the discourse toward countering the impacts on current foster children, this paper further suggests certain policy recommendations to ensure foster children’s safety and quality care, hopefully raising awareness and convincing more parents to join the foster care system.
