Abstract
Twins lobe blowers are used for many industrial applications, such as wastewater treatment plants and pneumatic conveying and combustion air supply systems, but their efficiency is dependent on rotor designs. The research study evaluates the complete development process and operational testing procedure of a twin lobe blower, which uses new rotor designs to improve its compression performance, operational efficiency, and mechanical durability. A new rotor design, which uses involute curves as its basis, has been developed to replace existing conventional design techniques for 0.069 m³ capacity blowers. The design process starts with parametric modeling and regression analysis, which leads to three-dimensional solid modeling that creates a design that undergoes testing through computational simulations that assess airflow patterns, temperature patterns, pressure patterns, velocity patterns, and streamlines. The study shows that the modified rotor design performs better than the regular design because it maintains pressure better, decreases leakage, and provides better thermal performance, which results in higher overall efficiency. The results show that changes to the rotor profile create strong effects on flow parameters, which lead to inlet leakage and outlet backflow, and transient changes in velocity, mass flow rate, and exit temperature. The proposed method eliminates the requirement for reverse engineering and complex machining processes, which leads to simpler manufacturing operations and shorter production periods. The research establishes essential principles that enable the creation of twin lobe blowers that achieve high performance through their operational reliability and efficiency improvements.
