Abstract:
Photovoltaic systems require reliability assessments to ensure continuous energy availability. This study assesses the reliability of a 1 MWp centralized photovoltaic plant with a string topology using a probabilistic approach based on Markov chains, which incorporates component failure and repair rates. Real hourly irradiance data from Arequipa, one of the regions with the highest solar incidence in South America, were modeled using a Probability Mass Function (PMF). The analysis included the Capacity Outage Probability Table (COPT) and the impact of the inverter’s minimum DC input voltage on system availability. The results obtained were ISE = 2,277.02 MWh, ESE = 2,179.95 MWh, and Ae = 0.9573 for the evaluated period, indicating high energy reliability of the photovoltaic plant.
