Abstract:

This work presents a method, based on finite difference formulation for the determination of temperature distribution along the length of the fin with uniform circular cross-section. The temperature values that are obtained are considered for two different boundary conditions, adiabatic and convective tips. Numerical and analytical investigation is carried out and the temperature distributions are plotted and observed. And this process is repeated for different materials having different thermal properties; by varying the thermal parameters of these materials their temperature distribution is analyzed. Here pin fin having a diameter of 20 mm and length of 200 mm is considered for evaluation (l>>d).
